Author Interview with Tanner McElroy

War of Wings

Written from the two opposing perspectives of Gabriel and Lucifer, War of Wings follows their paths and love stories as they face a violent war that leads to the fall of one-third of the angels from Heaven. Gabriel, the archangel, loves life, but there is one thing in Heaven that he cannot tolerate: perfection. Lucifer, God’s highest cherubim angel and “perfect image of beauty,” stands alone in the hierarchy leading praise, worship, music, and laughter in the hope that one day he will be promoted to God’s equal. War of Wings is a fast-paced journey of two battling angels yearning for change. Their destinies emerge from triumph, failure, love, and heartbreak, as they discover that even in Heaven decisions always have consequences.
As a fan of epic fiction throughout his childhood and by researching the Bible and other religious documents, Tanner brought to life this original story of good versus evil. It is his take on how Heaven was corrupted. Tanner grew up as an avid reader of the Bible, Tolkien, Homer, Milton, and Dante all of which which helped shape this story.

WAR OF WINGS, the first book in the series, is set to be released on March 21st, 2014 after years of extensive research of the Bible and other religious documents and over four years of writing and editing.

A fan first and foremost, McElroy’s expertise has continued to grow. He has devoted considerable time, energy, and resources to writing a book that tells the remarkable story of Gabriel, Michael, Lucifer, and Arrayah the virtue angel. War of Wings is fiction and there are artistic choices that McElroy made in order to fill in a story that has very little detail in religious documents.

About the Author

Tanner McElroy was raised in Dallas, Texas in Lake Highlands. While gaining the knowledge from the Bible from his mother and learning a deep love of epic stories from his father, he was able to combine the two in War of Wings.

McElroy attended Texas Tech University on an academic scholarship and joined the Red Raider’s baseball team as a freshman. He received two degrees from a double major and Male Student-Athlete of the Year in 2005. He was also a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity and received Big 12 honors with the Texas Tech baseball team. As a pitcher, Tanner remains among the all-time leaders for the Red Raiders.

After college baseball he signed with the Texas Rangers Organization to play professionally. With the long bus trips and hotel stays, Tanner was able to use much of his time to pursue his passion of writing. He wrote many short stories, treatments, and began screenplays on these journeys.

In 2006, McElroy moved to California where he was able to take more classes for writing and theatre at the renowned Howard Fine Studio in Los Angeles. It was at this studio where he learned how to add depth to characters realizing that “everyone justifies their own actions, even serial killers.” If this was true then Lucifer himself had to believe he was right or he would have never challenged God before the war in Heaven according to McElroy. By studying acting and writing he understood every character has his/her own objective in every scene and the only way to write effectively is to know exactly what those objectives are for each character. He is now a member of Romance Writer’s of America and the Texas Writer’s League. Visit his website at www.warofwings.com.

The Ruby Necklace

The Ruby Necklace is a short story that I wrote specifically for a mini-mystery compendium along with three other authors. Though it is an older work of mine, I decided to rerelease it as a series of podcast episodes.

If you enjoy the series, it is available for sale at amazon.com as both a short story and as part of a compendium of short stories along with three other very talented authors.

The Ruby Necklace

While working as a caterer at a local jewelry store’s Valentine’s Day party, Cara expects the night to be like any other, but it does not go quite as planned. When one of the contest entries, a ruby necklace, goes missing, Cara finds herself thrust into a mystery. To make matters worse, her longtime crush, Rick, could be blamed. With only an hour to solve the mystery, will she be able to find the necklace in time?

The Ruby Necklace is a short story (approx. 10,500 words). It is also available for sale on amazon.com in the Valentine’s Day Mini-Mystery Compendium (The Holiday Collection) along with three other Valentine’s day mini-mysteries.

About the Author:

Price McNaughton was born and raised in a small town in Tennessee. A childhood steeped in the stories and legends of her ancestors as well as the Southern way of life led her to carry on the tradition and become a storyteller herself. After years of traveling, she returned to her roots and devoted herself to her first love, writing mysteries. She is the author of A Vision of Murder and Murder is Ugly.

Author Interview with Bill Gourgey Part 2

I am incredibly excited to be interviewing Bill Gourgey of The Glide Trilogy. Bill’s interview was split into two parts with the first part broadcasting on March 13th.

The Glide Trilogy

Glide

The Prophet’s Revenge

In Glide, The Prophet’s Revenge, genius inventor Dr. Magigate (the Captain) must confront his shadowy legacy when innocent teen Maddy Langsley is kidnapped by an evil fugitive, the Prophet, Dr. Magigate’s erstwhile foe and lover. Thus begins the Glide Trilogy set in a future world dominated by the miraculous inventions of Dr. Magigate, chief among them Glide which controls gravity.

When Maddy and Mike trespass Knot Hall, a grand seaside estate that appears to be in ruin, they set in motion forces that have been pent up since the dark days of the Academy—a nefarious organization that brought civilization to the brink by unleashing war and plague in an attempt to control the dwindling natural resources of an ailing planet. The Prophet escapes her island prison and takes Maddy hostage just as the Neos. a new organization fashioned after the Academy, assert themselves by bending the considerable technologies of the future to their will—technologies largely devised by Captain Magigate. At last, the Captain must face not only the Prophet but also the ambiguous legacy of his inventions. Glide is a dark and quixotic look at what happens when invention reaches beyond its pale to compensate for the shortcomings of heart and soul.

Nu Logic
Rise of the Neos

In Nu Logic, Rise of the Neos, accomplished virologist, Dr. Janot (whose specialty is crossover pathogens that make the leap between organics, inorganics, hardware, and software), threatens the promising Glide era with his wildly popular augmented reality gaming world—Neology. Only the genius inventor, Captain Magigate, can stop him, but Magigate is lost in the past with his erstwhile lover and foe, the Prophet. Teenage artist Maddy’s cryptic paintings hold the key to reaching the Captain, but will she discover their secret in time to stop Dr. Janot, whose Connected Reality vision threatens to transform the human experience forever?
