Essence (The Eve Series)

Jocelyn Timmons does not believe she is anything special — just an
ordinary high school senior, living an ordinary life full of
school-work, volleyball and friends. She’s about to find out how wrong
she is.

Jackson Chandler moved in to the house across the street. His dark
wavy hair, green eyes and charismatic personality draws everyone to
him. Everyone, but Jocelyn.

Whenever Jackson gets near Jocelyn she feels ill and dizzy. When he
touches her, she blacks out and has visions of another life, in
another time. As the odd hallucinations evolve and become clearer, she
feels a strong pull towards the people she sees there. Frightened, she
watches her once stable life begin to crumble around her and she
begins to question her own sanity.

Could it be possible that these episodes are actually her own memories
of a life she is living somehow, somewhere, some-when? Maybe this is
time-travel or some other paranormal mysticism? Our minds often
wander, but can our souls?

Talebearers Podcast: Interview with Kevin Jakubowski, author of 8-bit Christmas

It’s 1980-something and all nine-year-old Jake Doyle wants for Christmas is a Nintendo Entertainment System. No Jose Canseco rookie card, no GI Joe hovercraft, no Teddy friggin’ Ruxpin—just Nintendo. But when a hyperactive Shih Tzu is accidentally crushed to death by a forty-two- inch television set and every parent in town blames Nintendo, it’s up to Jake to take matters into his own hands. The result is a Christmas quest of Super Mario Bros. proportions, filled with flaming wreaths, speeding minivans, lost retainers, fake Santas, hot teachers, snotty sisters, “Super Bowl Shuffles” and one very naked Cabbage Patch Kid. Told from a nostalgic adult perspective, 8-Bit Christmas is a hilarious and heartfelt look back at the kid pop culture of the 1980s.

ADVANCE PRAISE: “Hysterically funny and full of heart. It’s A Christmas Story for the Nintendo generation.” – New York Times bestselling author James Frey

“Jakubowski captures the late ‘80s Nintendo craze with hilarious precision. You won’t be able to put 8-Bit Christmas down.” – Marnie O. Mamminga, author of Return to Wake Robin

“Absolutely charming. Like an old home movie, it instantly brings you back to the magic of childhood.” – Academy Award-nominated director Steph Green

“No bull crud about it! The 1980s are alive and rad in this charming, rollicking tale.” – South Park producer and Out There creator Ryan Quincy

About the Author: A native of Batavia, Illinois, Kevin Jakubowski is a film and television writer best known for the Bruce Willis comedy Assassination of a High School President and for his work on the Comedy Central series Brickleberry. He has written and co-written scripts for Warner Brothers, Paramount, Lionsgate, Sony and Fox and is currently developing his own animated series at Nickelodeon. He lives in California with his wife and his Nintendo. 8-Bit Christmas is his first novel.

Talebearers Podcast: Interview with Rich Adams, author of Eben Kruge: How “A Christmas Carol” Came to be Written

We will be giving away a copy of Eben Kruge: How “A Christmas Carol” Came to be Written. Stay tuned for more info!

Eben Kruge, recipient of a ForeWord Clarion five-star book review, is a story wholly unlike A Christmas Carol, yet, like the Carol, a story of transformation. It is about Charles Dickens, the man, and the circumstances of his life at age thirty, and what inspired him to write his Christmas classic that for one hundred and seventy years at Christmas time has drawn people to their better nature and universally engendered a sense of concern and charity for the poor and downtrodden. The story setting is factual and will come as a surprise to most readers, as will the reality that A Christmas Carol was Dickens’s first completed fictional work after the events portrayed in Eben Kruge.

The author, Rich Adams, is a forensic engineering consultant, a Vietnam veteran, a former Army aviator, and a former ski instructor for Vail Resorts. He is also the first of three brothers to graduate from West Point. His first book, the award-winning historical novel, The Parting: A Story of West Point on the Eve of the Civil War, is the true and epic story of the West Point Class of 1861 during its final year at the Academy. Rich enjoys speaking to civic groups, schools and universities, church groups, book clubs, libraries, Academy alumni groups, museum-sponsored groups, special interest groups, and, most recently, a cruise ship audience. He and his wife live in Miramar Beach (Sandestin), Florida, after having raised their family in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he founded and later sold a regionally based environmental consulting company.

Also by Rich Adams,

Eben Kruge and The Parting may also be ordered from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, and Xlibris websites.

Talebearers Podcast: Interview with John Williams, co-author of The Crimson and the Frost

Talebearers Author Price McNaughton recently had the opportunity to interview John Williams about his new release, The Crimson and the Frost. Tune in to hear more about this great book and click on the link below to find it on Amazon!

The Crimson and the Frost

There is a centuries old rivalry between Santa and Jack Frost with the fate of the Christmas town and the entire world hanging in the balance.

Delve into a unique story that takes iconic Christmas legends and spins them into a new tale full of magic, mystery and thrills.

Late one night young Billy Hampton investigates a strange presence in the woods behind his house. His fear turns to excitement when he discovers a team of reindeer harnessed to a sleigh with the initials ‘S.C.’ carved into the side. Suddenly, Billy spots two figures approaching and makes the hasty decision to climb aboard.

Billy soars through the air in the back of the flying transport toward the remote winter lands of the far north. While airborne, his curiosity gets the best of him and he removes a large red jewel fitted in a chamber in the back of the sleigh. During some turbulence, he accidentally loses the jewel over the side and it disappears in the snowy expanse below.

Billy finds himself in Christmas town, a place full of wonder where Santa and the elves had lived in peace for centuries, protected by a secret and powerful magic jewel known as the Heart of Polaris. It is their only defense against the wicked and covetous King of Winter who wants them cast out of the lands he claims are his alone.

Billy soon learns that the jewel he lost over the side of the sleigh was indeed the Heart of Polaris and without its protection Christmas Town is vulnerable to the power and fury of the King of Winter and his army of savage grimghouls.

Its desperate race against time as Billy and his friends search for the Heart of Polaris before they fall victim to the impending onslaught.

About the Author:

Cousins and co-authors John Williams and James Colletti are close in age and always had the same creative interests. As teens they wrote music and formed a handful of rock bands. The pair shares a long and successful creative history that includes writing music, playing in rock bands, writing screenplays, producing shows and music videos for broadcast television, and directing an internationally released movie. There was one screenplay in particular they had co-written that they absolutely loved. One film producer in England read it and said, “I love this! It would make a great movie but we’ll never be able to raise the 150 – 200 million it would take to make a film this epic and grand-scale. It is too new and unknown by the masses. There is a reason the Harry Potter movies got made, that series had a huge built in audience from the books.”
So, instead of letting that script sit on a shelf collecting dust, John and James decided to transform it into what had become their first novel “The Crimson and the Frost.” During the novel writing process the story became so much more than the screenplay ever was and we are even more proud of it.
