The Riding Camp Riddle

In the second installment of the Sidney Sinclair adventure series, Sidney and her friends head off to riding camp. At Camp Sycamore Streams, Sidney meets new friends, deals with new riding challenges, and is faced with another mystery. On the first day of camp, Sidney spots a mysterious rider in the woods. Could it be the ghost of William Kitt, the bank robber who supposedly hid his stolen treasure somewhere at Sycamore Streams? Sidney and her friends are determined to find out, even if it means missing out on a few camp activities. The campers team up with their camp counselor, Kelsey, and an old, grizzled riding instructor named Johnny to find Kitt’s hidden treasure, solving riddles and finding adventure along the way.
For ages 8 and up.

The Ruby Necklace

The Ruby Necklace is a short story that I wrote specifically for a mini-mystery compendium along with three other authors. Though it is an older work of mine, I decided to rerelease it as a series of podcast episodes.

If you enjoy the series, it is available for sale at amazon.com as both a short story and as part of a compendium of short stories along with three other very talented authors.

The Ruby Necklace

While working as a caterer at a local jewelry store’s Valentine’s Day party, Cara expects the night to be like any other, but it does not go quite as planned. When one of the contest entries, a ruby necklace, goes missing, Cara finds herself thrust into a mystery. To make matters worse, her longtime crush, Rick, could be blamed. With only an hour to solve the mystery, will she be able to find the necklace in time?

The Ruby Necklace is a short story (approx. 10,500 words). It is also available for sale on amazon.com in the Valentine’s Day Mini-Mystery Compendium (The Holiday Collection) along with three other Valentine’s day mini-mysteries.

About the Author:

Price McNaughton was born and raised in a small town in Tennessee. A childhood steeped in the stories and legends of her ancestors as well as the Southern way of life led her to carry on the tradition and become a storyteller herself. After years of traveling, she returned to her roots and devoted herself to her first love, writing mysteries. She is the author of A Vision of Murder and Murder is Ugly.

Odd things have been happening and according to Bryan, the riding instructor’s less than charming son, the stables are cursed. As the summer progresses and Sidney’s love for horses grows, the events become more sinister and a riding student is injured. Someone seems determined to ruin the stables, and the owner and instructor, Mrs. Fitzpatrick, is distraught and considering closing the stables forever. Can Sidney find out who is behind the strange occurrences before Blue Moon Stables is forced to shut its doors?

From the Author:

My childhood was wonderfully impacted by numerous epic fantasy books, such as C.S. Lewis’s The Chronicles of Narnia, Terry Brooks’ Shannara series, Anne McCaffrey’s Dragonriders of Pern series, and of course, J.R.R. Tolkien’s tales of Middle-earth, to name a few. Stories of hobbits, dragons, elves, and the ever-worsening villains who plagued them enchanted my imagination, delivering hours of entertainment and countless daydreams. This is the type of experience I hope to deliver to a new generation of young fantasy readers with my Silvenfare series.

Essence (The Eve Series)

Jocelyn Timmons does not believe she is anything special — just an
ordinary high school senior, living an ordinary life full of
school-work, volleyball and friends. She’s about to find out how wrong
she is.

Jackson Chandler moved in to the house across the street. His dark
wavy hair, green eyes and charismatic personality draws everyone to
him. Everyone, but Jocelyn.

Whenever Jackson gets near Jocelyn she feels ill and dizzy. When he
touches her, she blacks out and has visions of another life, in
another time. As the odd hallucinations evolve and become clearer, she
feels a strong pull towards the people she sees there. Frightened, she
watches her once stable life begin to crumble around her and she
begins to question her own sanity.

Could it be possible that these episodes are actually her own memories
of a life she is living somehow, somewhere, some-when? Maybe this is
time-travel or some other paranormal mysticism? Our minds often
wander, but can our souls?

Book review: Death on a Deadline by Sandy Gaskin, Christine Lynxwiler and Jan Reynolds

Death on a Deadline was an entertaining book. I particularly enjoyed the first few chapters. As a whole, it has clean writing and it reads to me as if I am being told a story, which is one of the styles of writing I enjoy the most. I would be greatly surprised if the writers are not from the South because they provided a very accurate portrayal of people, ways and traditions in the South. The writing was just “southern” enough to be believable and set the scene without being fake or over the top. I enjoyed the camaraderie of the family and the townspeople. I liked the characters and setting and would definitely try another book by the authors.  In my opinion, it would be a great book (five stars) for a church group or Christian group because it does not contain overly gory or sexual material. While it does mention Christianity, it is not in an overbearing or pushy manner and blends in nicely with the small town southern setting.  The relationship of the sisters is refreshing and engaging. Overall, it is an enjoyable, light read. I hope to see more from these authors. You can buy it at:
